THE USUAL NICE, BORING PLACE
Croatian industrial and harbor city of Rijeka is situated in the northern part of the Bay of Kvarner, at the uppermost part of the northern Adriatic. The bay itself, sometimes called Bay of Rijeka also, is of circular shape, measuring around twenty kilometers in diameter. City got his name after a small, clean and abundant river, which enters the sea near its center, called simply The River.

Following this river's course upstream, through it's deep and narrow canyons shaded with threes, which, after some 10 km, widen in a narrow valley surrounded by the steep, wooded hills, a visitor suddenly comes before a vertical cliff in whose large cave The River energetically springs. Valley itself, together with the surrounding area, is a scarcely populated one, with a few small villages in which residents of a mostly good standing live. 

One of them, which is a mere kilometer distant from The River's spring, is called Kukuljani. It is among the oldest villages in the region whose inhabitants, until not so long ago, having the roots in the same family, carried the same last name. Now its residents come form various places making of it the same multicultural community as city of Rijeka is for centuries. As everybody works in 14 km distant Rijeka or abroad in nearby Italy, local life is usually uneventful, except during the weekends when there is a time enough to meet with family members, friends and neighbors. 

That is, until not so long ago.

SHINING CREATURE SPREADS TERROR IN KUKULJANI VILLAGE
In the December 12, 2000 issue of the renown local daily NOVI LIST (NEW LEAF), staff writer Slavica Mrkic Modric reports:

KUKULJANI 12-09-2000. Local youngsters have their preferred meeting place on the bus stop at the entrance of the village where, on the December 2, 2001 a group of them, Gloria Zaharija (11), Darko Lukin (13, in the front of the image on the right), Boris Juretic (17), Ante Vrabic (14), Jelena Juretic (12) I Virna Kukuljan (11), were going through jet another boring Saturday evening.
Than, around 19:30, they all suddenly felt the need to walk toward a nearby Trnovica location.

Gloria, in her local, intense dialect, breathlessly recounts what has followed:

Darko, Jelena and I were in the first group leading others, when, arriving at Batica location, we suddenly sow a light of some kind in the woods. We have turned that way and at some 15-20 meters we see something white, about half a meter tall, with a head on which only the eyes were visible, which were now red, now green, now florescent white, as it stands by the three and looks at us. 

Darko, who found himself mere two meters from it, froze and the rest of us started to run to the road screaming.

A group which was following us also ran, that monster (image on the right) squeaked, bumped, screeched, with those hands which in the place of fingers had something like claws, gliding flank wise after us, terribly blowing, shining and white as if somebody has sprayed it with flour all over. Then Darko, somehow reaching us, fell on the road and started hysterically to scream, lifting him with the great effort we somehow escaped to the bus station, but that thing flew after us. I think it has flown, but not through the air but over the surface, always flank wise, with such a speed that only that whiteness was seen to glide after us. 

From the station we ran to the chapel, crazy with fear, but that now came from the pathway which, between the houses, leads to the grove where we first sow it.

Then we have escaped to the other end of the village and that whooshed after us. After we have already been crazy with fear because, Andrea (on the right, drawing the above image of the alien) recounts, it sat on the fence of one old house, it suddenly slimed away over our little bridge, in to the woods. I cannot tell you how we have been terrified and we had jet to go home. 
Somehow we went, but afraid that nobody will believe us, that night, we did not tell anybody anything, recounts Gloria Zaharia. 

But, as kids rarely can hide anything from their parents, and as their fear was more than obvious, parents very soon knew the whole story.

My Andrea came home all pallid, at my insistence told me the whole story, I first told her to stop making it up, but as she was not stopping, totally freaked with such nonsense I even have threaten her to beat her up. But as her fear was, instead to diminish, steadily, minute after the minute, increasing, I then asked her to recount to me the whole event again, and understood that she is repeating the story from word to word, shaking like a leaf and I do believe her. Moreover, because that the rest of the kids told this identical story to their parents, tells Andrea's mother Dmia adding how dogs were barking all that night, something strange was felt in the whole place and kids which had a close encounter with "the unidentified" still sleep with their parents, not even in the madness thinking about the isolation of their own room.

As the rest of the squad was still in the school, Gloria leads us to the place of the event and shows a three, from behind which a white being without nose and mouth sprang out, with it's giant multicolored eyes and legs, that seemed not to be the legs because the feet had something round and on the three trunk a claw marks are farley visible (image on the right) and below there is a deep, level track as somebody were towing a tree trunk. Believe me, it is creepy, moreover that on the tree trunk there are traces of some dried and hardened slime and kids have told that the "horrible little" was sliming.

At 14:20 remaining participants of the story arrived from the school and we asked Darko what has occurred.

What do I know, I was terribly scared, I was two meters from it, that has screeched, pounded, flashed and I could not move. I am still scared, I am still terrified, and when dark comes down we do not go out whatsoever. I do not know how I could survive it again, I have passed out there from the fear, from it's fluid or something else. And you know what, nobody believes us, but it was really like that. What that was I do not know, but I know that I sow it and heard it. 
Next day we have shouted from the road "we are not afraid of you, show yourself", but we are afraid, and that did not show itself, it only bumped, screamed and what I do know what not.

That the children were not the only one to have a near encounter with something odd confirms Mrs. Ivka Kukuljan (on the right) who, entering the stable, sensed a miraculous thing.
I was entering when, from the platform where once the straw was held, I hear some whooshing like as somebody is coughing, snoring, but not like the human, some voice, I cannot describe what was it like, horrible, tells Ivka and continues, I did not wait for it to show itself and ran as fast as I could, what I would wait for? Look, I was scared, but terribly scared, and now I go in the stable only during the day, I would not go there during the night for the whole money of this world.

Locals mention the driver of local bus, Ladislav, who also had encounter with the "unidentified".
Few days before Ladislav was driving the bus from nearby Martinas or Lopaca villages when suddenly something white flew over the road, bus engine shut down by itself and the lights have gone out, to come back on only when that whiteness disappeared, now, was that like this I do not know, because I was not in the bus, tells one elderly woman from Kukuljani.

All in all, and young and elderly in Kukuljanovo are afraid of dark, dogs bark with the same severity for a week now, strange dweller of the woods has canceled himself except when, with the bumping noise and with the screeching of a kind, which comes from the woods from time to time, he revels himself.
Many confess their fear, and others wave their hand at it telling that all this is a nonsense. Uneasiness has crept in every village near the spring of The River and that the meter is perceived seriously was confirmed, not only by the arrival of the County Principal, Branko Juretic, but by the arrival of the Police also.

BEYOND THE TOP SECRET
Officially, up to date, this mystery remains unsolved one. But, from my point of view, there are some strong indications leading to the partial explanation of this and former local events.

At the very beginning of the chemtrail sprayings over city of Rijeka, on 06-02-2000 this X marks the spot chemtrail image was taken (CLICK ON THE IMAGE ON THE RIGHT FOR THE FULL STORY). At the time it was noted that it contains an unidentified flying object also, but this fact was not singularly exposed because it's larger context, obviously related to the chemtrail sprayings, was not clear. 

However, it was noted that the UFO was captured at the most unique spot, beyond the X mark, which is used for the chemtrail satellite wind data acquisition. 

This changed when the USS SAIPAN task force arrived in Rijeka's port at the beginning of the November 2000. After a few days it was clear that the USAF 2025 weather control technology was extensively used to form and maintain constant, electrically conductive cloud cover to shield the members of this naval group from the satellite sensor and airborne radar detection, and at the same time to permit the use of, still officially non-operable, over-the-horizon VTRPE radar technology. During that period a suspicion that the observed UFO has something to do with the USS SAIPAN presence aroused, but as task force on 11-24-2000 left Rijeka and weather thereafter relaxed a bit, this issue was put aside.

And then incident in Kukuljani occurred, giving palpable credibility to the most of the incredible suppositions.

The observed UFO is automatic robotic probe or unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), with anti-gravitational propulsion, used by the US AIR FORCE for the acquisition of local atmosphere data in the frame of the operational USAF 2025 military weather control technology application use. It is piloted by the hybrid biomechanical robot (not by the human pilot, therefore UAV term is used), whose biological technology part level is still lower than that which is usually associated with the hypothetical cyborg concept. 
It seems that, after a half year long autonomous operation, this particular UAV developed a serious malfunction, scaring the residents of a little Croatian village out of their wits. 

It is logical that the whole meter did not develop further. After all, Croatia is now a member of NATO's Partnership for Peace program. It is unofficial NATO member.

Meanwhile, for more than two months after the USS SAIPAN left, the Bay of Kvarner is still patrolled by the US NAVY surveyor ship, which is officially charting the local sea bottom for the Croatian Naval institute. It does not meter that this institute has done the same job many times over, years before, for, then, Yugoslav Navy, by itself.
The observed UAV's malfunction must have been a significant one if the platform has not been retrieved yet.

Or it may be that it normally requires a tight maintenance schedule while operating over Adriatic Sea, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia and that we now have a difficult to detect US ballistic missile sub locally, because it is parked somewhere among our 1.000 islands and protected by the artificial cloud cover from the look of the opposition.

It seems that, although in this part of Croatia UFO sightings were extremely rare, we shall have to adjust to a new reality, very similar to that existing around the NATO bases in 200 km distant Italy, where they are accompanied with the sightings of extremely unpleasant looking beings with red eyes. 

I suppose that we should consider ourselves to be lucky, for now. Ours is a white one, and theirs are a straight black emptiness.
